Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (Today). Citing mounting pressure from nationwide student protests over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in the NEET-UG examination. According to sources, Pradhan handed over his resignation letter directly to the Prime Minister. In an official statement posted on X, the minister said stepping down was “not a matter of personal prestige.” He added that the decision was taken to safeguard the future of students and prevent “anti-national forces” from exploiting the ongoing demonstrations, particularly at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The resignation comes after weeks of intense protests by students across the country demanding accountability for the controversies surrounding this year’s NEET-UG exam. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had kept up continuous pressure on the government, highlighting issues related to paper leaks and irregularities. The move is significant as it occurred just hours before a crucial third round of talks between the central government and CJP representatives. The CJP had declared Pradhan’s removal from the Education Ministry as a non-negotiable condition for continuing negotiations.
